There is a lot of 3d modeling software on the market. There are a lot of free 3d modeling tools and a lot of paid modeling tools. You will find that many of the software manufacturers come and go. The market for this type of software is hard to break into. Corporations seek out established companies and are primarily interested in the best products. The time that corporations save by purchasing the right tools is enormous. In addition, the final product will turn out better.
The best products out there are made by a company called Autodesk. They make lots of cad products like Autocad, 3ds Max, and Autodesk Maya. The largest video game company in China, Shanda, uses 3ds Max as one of their tools to create top video games.
The software cost is around $3,500, but don't despair if you are a single individual. That cost is for a company using it for production. Students and home users can get a copy for much less than that. I think the cost is around $150.00 for students and around $350.00 for home users.
